Therapy available

My core training is in psycho-dynamic/psycho-analytic psychotherapy. I also have training in other models - Transactional Analysis, Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt and Mindfulness. I have a specialist interest in trauma, anxiety and depression; and issues surrounding infertility, pregnancy and childbirth; older age.

As part of the initial consultation I will consider which approach might best suit your needs.

My experience is in the following areas:

  • poor self esteem
  • stress at work
  • addictions
  • bereavement and loss

  • anxiety
  • depression

  • loneliness and isolation
  • domestic violence
  • later life and old age issues
  • problems arising from ill health / disability
  • difficulties in relationships and sustaining them

  • gay and lesbian issues
  • sexual assault
  • ethnic issues
  • panic attacks
  • abuse
  • dementia
  • issues arising from infertility
  • pregnancy and childbirth issues

  • postnatal depression

I believe that for the success of therapeutic work, trust and security with the therapist need to develop; it may take several sessions for the relationship to build. Some people feel a relief from emotional distress after just one meeting.

The length of therapy is determined together; I offer short and open-ended / long term individual counselling and psychotherapy. This usually takes place weekly, and sometimes twice weekly. My approach is to work in partnership with my clients to develop insight and to bring about desired change in relationships and circumstances towards greater happiness and peace of mind. My work is always non-judgemental, non discriminatory, and I do not offer advice.
